St John Plessington Catholic College

Yr 10 trial examinations week commencing 21st June 2021.

Dear Parents/Carers

As you know, we had planned to complete a full set of Yr 10 trial examinations week commencing 21st June 2021. However, in light of the recent rise in infection rates in the North West and the delay in reducing social distance guidelines, we have had to take the decision to reduce the number of trial examinations that Yr 10 students will sit in the Sports Hall.

We will also reduce the number of students sitting an exam at any one time. Your child will now take trial exams in Maths, English, Science, RE and Spanish in the Sports Hall. Trial exams will be completed in a half year group, resulting in the sports hall being at half capacity. The reduction in trial exams taking place in the sports hall and overall student numbers in the sports hall at any one time, will help to ensure that the possibility of transmission is reduced. Trial exams that were scheduled in other subject areas will now take place in lessons during your child’s normal timetabled school day.

During academic review this week, your child has been updated on these new arrangements and they have been given a specific seat number that they will remain in for all of their trial exams that take place in the sports hall. This seat will not be used by another student at any point during the trial exam window.. When students have an examination in the afternoon that finishes before 15:10, they will be dismissed after the examination. I have indicated an approximate time on the timetable so you have an idea when students will be making their way home. This will give our students an opportunity to refresh during a busy time.

Please can I thank you for your continued support, in preparing your child for their trial exams.

Kind regards

Mr B Nunnery
