Dear Parent/Carer
I am writing to inform you about the arrangements for the forthcoming trial examinations for all Year 11 students. As you know, these are a vital part of our on-going programme of assessing your child’s progress to date in all subject areas. I appreciate that the current situation of COVID has impacted students in many ways and with this in mind, it is very important that students continue to be prepared for all forms of assessment including formal examinations, particularly in light of the Government’s plans for summer examinations to still go ahead. Performance in these trial exams allows us to identify where further additional support strategies can be put in place to enable progress towards targets to be met, this is especially important during these uncertain times.
There are of course many distractions in the technological world in which we now live which can lead to students not doing sufficient preparation for their GCSE exams at home. As well as their time in school and homework, our students should be studying and revising in the evening during the week, and spending approximately three to four hours at the weekend if they are to maximize their success and fulfil their potential. Therefore, I would appreciate your help and support in stressing the importance of preparing for the exams and ensuring the necessary revision work is completed.
Once timetables are confirmed, these will be forwarded to you early next week. We will also communicate the results with you following completion of the trial examinations and will continue to inform you of any reasons for concern or celebration in your child’s performance throughout their journey to the final examinations in the summer term.
