St John Plessington Catholic College

14-Dec-20 URGENT MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER

Dear Parents and Carers

I am writing to inform you that due to increased levels of staff absence, we have taken the decision to ask all year groups to work from home from tomorrow, Tuesday 15 December, until the end of term.

This decision has not been taken lightly but made on the basis that a full curriculum offer would not be possible with the staff available for work.  Absence is due to a number of staff affected by COVID including those self isolating, alongside other non Covid related absences.

I will ensure that staff are setting appropriate and sufficient work on Google Classroom to complete during this time.  We are aware of children who do not have computer/internet access and we will be making arrangements for a device to be collected.  Please contact your child’s Head of Learning immediately via the school office email; schooloffice@stjohnplessington.com  if your circumstances have changed and you now require the loan of a device/paper resources.

Please be assured that this decision has been made with the health and safety of our pupils, staff and families at the centre of the decision making process.  I recognise and do not underestimate the impact that this will have on pupils, parents and carers.

Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Head of Learning should you have any concerns.

Thank you all for your continued support and cooperation during these challenging times.

Yours faithfully

Ms M Sharratt

Headteacher
