How to apply for a place at the College

SJP is an oversubscribed Catholic comprehensive Voluntary-Aided. The Governors are responsible for Admissions and they consider applications according to criteria agreed by the College and the Diocese of Shrewsbury. The Governors consider these applications in a priority order made available to Wirral Local Authority.

For 2018/2019 the Planned Admission number has been set at 255.

If you wish to make an Appeal for your child to be admitted to St John Plessington, please ring the College to ask for an Appeal Form.  (Please note that the deadline for returning the Appeal Form is Thursday 29th March 2018).

The Appeals Process will be outlined by the Chair of the independent Appeals Panel, Mr N Orme.  Mr T Quinn, Head Teacher, on behalf of the Governors, will make a presentation outlining why your child was unable to be given a place at St John Plessington.

Agenda Timetable

  • Appeals to be returned to us by the deadline of Thursday 29th March 2018.
  • Each appellant will be given at least 10 school days’ notice of their individual appeal hearing date.
  • Any additional information is to be submitted by Friday 20th April 2018.  
  • Appeals hearings will commence Tuesday 1st May 2018 and are expected to continue for around three weeks.

A New Parents’ Evening is held each July for all new Year 7 pupils and their families. Pupils are admitted to other Year groups only if places are available.
