A group of Y10 pupils attended the City of Liverpool College last week, to take part in a number of ‘Have a Go’ activities. The purpose of the event was to introduce pupils to a range of trades from the construction industry. These activities included plumbing, plastering, joinery,
using a JCB simulator and using virtual reality headsets to check building safety. There are many opportunities for future careers in the building industry sector.
The pupils also watched current apprentices take part in the North West Regional Heat of Skillbuild 2018. This is a completion between apprentices where they pitch their skills against each other and are assessed on speed, accuracy and safety by a panel of judges.
Our students found the visit very interesting and it opened their eyes to future careers that they had not previously considered.
