Radiology and Oncology Conference

A small group of year 9 students travelled to Liverpool to attend a Radiology and Oncology Conference on Wednesday 12th June.

Television presenter Dallas Campbell delivered a lecture about space and his experience at a rocket launch. Dallas used Alka Seltzer to power a model rocket and discussed the life-saving design of a space suit.

There was also a range of interactive hands-on sessions to experience the basics of radiological and imaging in medicine. The pupils were able to experience the use of ultrasound to generate images of a foetus inside the womb. Nerf guns were also used to simulate the precision required when carrying out radiotherapy. Year 9's had a great time!
