St John Plessington Catholic College

Attendance

The proper place for your child to be on a College Day is at College !

If they are not able to be in School, it must be for a justifiable reason, e.g. illness.

  • On the first day of your absence, please should ring the College (0151 645 5049) giving the reason for your child's absence
  • When they return to College, please give them a letter or note in their planner for the Form Tutor to explain why they have been away
  • If you know in advance that they are going to be away, pleas send a letter to your child's Form Tutor requesting permission and giving the reason and details

Your child's Form tutor will enquire about and investigate unjustified absences, possibly with the help of the Education Welfare Officer. The college operates a first day absence procedure which means that we will contact you on the first day of your child's unexplained absence.

If there are problems, talk to someone first, your child's Form Tutor, for instance or their Learning Coach or Head of Learning.

Truancy will not make the problem go away! It will make things worse.

Always Remember: Totals for attendance and punctuality will be included on your child's annual Record of Achievement.

PUNCTUALITY(FOR PUPILS)
