LAMDA

Congratulations to all learners who took their LAMDA Acting examinations in July. For the third year running, all SJP students passed with either a Merit or Distinction grade!  LAMDA performance examinations are the Speech and Drama equivalent of Music Grades; candidates choose a level to study and then prepare up to three contrasting scenes.

For the exam, they perform alone or with a partner for an examiner and then verbally analyse their characters and the plays from which the scenes are taken.  It is a daunting experience, but very rewarding and fantastic for improving skills and developing confidence.  This year, we had more students than ever taking LAMDA exams, 21 in total.  Due to this increase, we were able to organise for an examiner to come to SJP and take the exams in the Drama Studio.  Between them, the cohort achieved 16 Distinction grades and 5 Merits, in Grades 2-8.  A brilliant achievement!  Very well done to all those who took LAMDA exams and a big thank you to parents for your support.  LAMDA Club runs every Tuesday lunchtime in DR1 and is open to all year groups.  If you are interested in developing your performance skills, improving your public speaking skills, gaining UCAS points (Grades 6, 7, 8), making friends and having fun, come along!  Please see Ms Richards for further information.
